Tommy and I were reminiscing the other day, trying to recall the first time we ever had a craft beer. We both agree it was certainly a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, however the details of the place and the exact time are fuzzy-shocker! I am almost certain my first taste was in a parking lot at a Phish show sometime around 1999 with Tommy and the lovely, Laura Ruberto. To my inexperienced taste buds, it was so bitter and I was not sure it would ever become my beverage of choice. Little did I know, I would eventually only prefer that bite, and want to experience more! Over the next decade we would attend craft beer festivals, mostly as volunteers, and develop a taste for what we liked (and didn't like). Along the way we have met some amazing people and enjoyed a booming industry that is friendly, creative, and collaborative. This spirit encouraged Tommy to begin brewing at home. The science and art behind brewing is fascinating. Before he began brewing at home, I had never given any thought to how beer was made or what specifically created the distinct flavors I grew to love. The best part is that he is just getting started and there is still so much to learn and explore! Home brewery pics below.**
** Before you get your knickers in a twist: No brewery's kegs were harmed in the making of these home brews. All kegs were damaged, decommissioned, purchased and then converted into kettles.
